FD Formula

For cumulative fixed deposits, the maturity amount is usually estimated using compound interest. Many Indian bank FDs use quarterly compounding, but the exact method can vary by bank and deposit scheme.

A = P x (1 + r / n)n x t

A is maturity amount, P is principal, r is annual interest rate in decimal, n is compounding frequency, and t is tenure in years. Payout FD estimates use simple interest logic for regular monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly payout planning.

FD Calculator FAQ

What is an FD Calculator?

An FD Calculator estimates the maturity amount and total interest for a fixed deposit using deposit amount, interest rate, tenure, and compounding frequency.

Does this calculator include tax or TDS?

No. It gives an indicative before-tax estimate. Actual payout may differ due to TDS, tax rules, bank rounding, premature withdrawal, and bank-specific practices.

Which compounding frequency should I use?

Quarterly compounding is common for many Indian cumulative FDs, but you should choose the frequency mentioned by your bank.

Can I calculate FD for months and days?

Yes. You can enter tenure using years, months, and days together.

What is cumulative FD?

In a cumulative FD, interest is reinvested and paid with the principal at maturity. This can increase the maturity amount through compounding.

What is monthly payout FD?

In a monthly payout FD, interest is paid regularly instead of being reinvested. The maturity value is usually close to the principal amount, while the interest is received during the tenure.

Can I use this as a senior citizen FD calculator?

Yes. Turn on the senior citizen benefit and enter the extra interest rate offered by your bank. The calculator will include it in the applied FD rate.

Can this calculator estimate monthly and quarterly payout FDs?

Yes. Select monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly payout mode to estimate regular fixed deposit interest payout before tax and TDS.
