1. What Is a SIP Calculator?

A SIP Calculator estimates the future value of regular monthly investments over a selected period. It uses the monthly SIP amount, expected annual return, investment tenure, start date, and optional annual step-up.

In Target SIP mode, you enter a target corpus and the calculator estimates the starting monthly SIP required based on your return, tenure, and step-up assumptions. All results are indicative estimates.

2. Why Use Ganak Mitra SIP Calculator?

  • Estimate future value of monthly SIP investments
  • Check total invested amount and estimated gains
  • Calculate required starting SIP for a target corpus
  • Add an annual step-up percentage
  • Compare tenure and expected-return assumptions
  • View start date, estimated end date, and year-wise growth
  • Copy, share, or save results for personal reference

3. Future Value and Target SIP Modes

Use Future Value when you know your monthly SIP and want to estimate how it may grow. Use Target SIP when you know your desired corpus and want to estimate the required starting monthly SIP.

4. How to Use Future Value SIP Mode

  1. Open the SIP Calculator.
  2. Select Future Value.
  3. Enter the monthly SIP amount.
  4. Enter the expected annual return.
  5. Enter annual step-up, or keep it at 0 for a regular SIP.
  6. Select a valid SIP start date.
  7. Enter investment tenure in years and months.
  8. Click Calculate SIP to view future value, invested amount, estimated gains, and growth schedule.

5. How to Use Target SIP Mode

  1. Select Target SIP.
  2. Enter your target corpus.
  3. Enter expected annual return and annual step-up.
  4. Select the start date and investment tenure.
  5. Click Calculate SIP to estimate the required starting monthly SIP.

The estimate depends entirely on the assumptions entered and is not a confirmed investment plan.

6. SIP Calculator Formula

For an end-of-month regular SIP with monthly compounding, the calculator uses:

FV = P × [((1 + i)n - 1) / i]

P is the monthly SIP amount, i is the monthly expected return, and n is the total number of monthly instalments. Step-up SIP is estimated month by month because the contribution increases once every year.

7. SIP Calculator Example

Suppose the monthly SIP is Rs. 5,000, expected return is 12% p.a., tenure is 10 years, and annual step-up is 0%. There are 120 monthly instalments and total contribution is Rs. 6,00,000.

Estimated Gains = Estimated Future Value - Total Invested Amount

The estimated future value depends on monthly compounding. Actual returns may be higher or lower because mutual fund performance is market-linked.

8. What Is Annual Step-up?

Annual step-up increases the SIP amount once every year by a chosen percentage. If the starting SIP is Rs. 5,000 and step-up is 10%, the monthly SIP becomes Rs. 5,500 after the first year and increases again after the next year. Keep step-up at 0 for a regular SIP estimate.

TenureInvestment duration used
Estimated End DateStart date plus selected tenure

11. SIP Growth Schedule and Result Options

The year-wise schedule shows SIP added, total invested, estimated gains, and closing value. You can also copy or share a result, save a result image, and export the schedule as PDF where available.

12. Data Privacy and Important Limitations

The calculator runs in your browser and does not require personal financial details. Avoid entering sensitive information into any online calculator.

The estimate does not include actual market movement, fund-specific performance, expense ratio, exit load, capital-gains tax, inflation, missed instalments, or personal risk suitability.

13. Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not treat expected return as guaranteed.
  • Do not confuse estimated gains with guaranteed profit.
  • Do not ignore taxes, costs, expense ratio, exit load, or inflation.
  • Do not compare scenarios with different tenure or return assumptions without checking the inputs.
  • Do not treat a Target SIP result as personalised investment advice.

14. Final Note

Use Ganak Mitra SIP Calculator to estimate future value, target SIP amount, invested amount, gains, annual step-up impact, and year-wise growth. Results are mathematical estimates based on the values entered by the user.
